Kuber & Mahalakshmi Yantra: Placement for Wealth (Full Guide)

Two yantras dominate the wealth shelf in Indian homes: the Kuber Yantra, named for the treasurer of the gods, and the Mahalakshmi Yantra, the seat of the wealth-goddess. They are complementary — one guards and grows stored wealth, the other invites incoming prosperity — and each has its own correct placement.

Kuber Yantra — where and how

• Direction: north, the direction ruled by Kubera. Place it so it faces north or sits on the north wall of the room.
• Location: inside or on top of the cash box, locker, safe or almirah where money and valuables are kept.
• Day: install on a Thursday, Dhanteras or Diwali.
• Mantra: 'Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Shreem Kuberaya Namah', recited 108 times at installation.

Mahalakshmi Yantra — where and how

• Direction: the north-east (Ishanya) altar, with the worshipper facing east or north.
• Height: on the altar at eye level, on a clean red or yellow cloth — not on the floor.
• Day: Friday (Lakshmi's day), or Dhanteras/Diwali for installation.
• Mantra: 'Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Kamale Kamalalaye Praseed Praseed Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah'.

Activating a yantra

1. 1Wipe the yantra with clean water, then raw milk, then water again; dry it.
2. 2Place it in its correct direction on a clean cloth.
3. 3Light a lamp and incense, offer kumkum, akshata (rice) and a flower.
4. 4Recite the appropriate mantra 108 times, then keep a simple daily lamp thereafter.
